Robin Feld
"I am striving to paint as honestly as I can to reach a part of myself and others that cannot be reached through verbal language or linear thought."

Robin Feld's work has evolved from the traditions of abstract expressionism, Japanese and Chinese landscape paintings and calligraphy, and most recently minimalism. Living and working in New York City, the artist feels a newly heightened need to simplify and carve out a sense of breathing room in her work. She is striving to pare it down to what feels essential and utilize the vehicle of the grid as a holding structure and skeleton.

Once in the studio, Feld refers to outdoor watercolor studies as the source materials for her oil paintings. She also makes use of glazing, a technique where paint is thinned to a point where, once applied, it has a veil-like quality.
