Tiny bits of memory ? much too insignificant to notice, until oddly they come together forming narratives, familiar, as if they have always existed. The big things have a way of staying separate and need no further explanation, the small things we take for granted, finally emerge intuitively, and paste themselves together."

Often starting with a figure inexplicably positioned "just so" or discovered residing in a picture, like Edward Muybridge's famous photos of "The Human Figure in Motion," Hatch's oil paintings on canvas, and now prints on paper, evolve slowly over time. She feels that paint and pixels are remarkably similar as layers accumulate in random fashion until a narrative begins to unfold.
