"For me, there is no distinction between sculpture and furniture."
Brent Skidmore rests his furniture and sculpture on a desire to understand the energies, emotions and events that surround him. His "three E's of inspiration" range from a particular sensual or personal energy, an emotion or response, to a particular event – past, present, predicted or imagined.
Through an open creative process, Skidmore hopes the work will develop a personality associated with (but not limited to) those "three E's" that inspired its conception. He provides a response by manipulating awkward forms and color, throwing in a little humor to lighten the mix.
