"As I explore each object, I discover its unique character
and personality, which I let guide the images I
create. I feel much like a sculptor, who lets the flaws
and veins of a stone guide his chisel. The resulting
photographs are two-dimensional "sculptures" of
light, form, and texture that possess a mysterious
intimacy."
Daniel Sroka creates abstract, dream-like images out of the simple elements of nature, such as fallen leaves, sticks, flowers, and seeds.
Daniel finds most of his subjects as he walks through his suburban neighborhood, collecting items that have fallen to the ground before they are swept up for compost.
He finds these natural objects rich in complexity and subtlety, and hopes they give the viewer the chance to observe our world from a new perspective.
