Jacob Marks views successful design as a reconciliation between creativity and utility, with each informing the other. Marks wanders between the extremes of his field, designing and building original studio furniture, purely sculptural pieces, and production-oriented furniture.
Marks' emphasis is on producing innovative limited-production and custom furniture. His guiding principle is that enduring design is nothing without sound construction practices. Rooted in traditional furniture making techniques, his pieces are crafted with precision and care. He makes all of his wood furniture from hand-selected hardwoods and hand-stitched furniture-grade wood veneers.
