"If you look closely, there's a dance in every tree -- countless gestures and poses within nature's landscape, inspiring me to capture and paint."
Jessica Pisano begins each piece by photographing a scene. Using her black and white photograph as her canvas, she paints the surface with a variety of materials such as acrylic paint, watercolor and gold leaf. Because various mediums are applied onto each black & white image, each one in an edition is unique.
Jessica was inspired while growing up by the natural beauty of her native Island, Martha's Vineyard. She pursued her interest in art at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, graduating in 1999 with a B.F.A. in Photography and Painting. Pisano also studied studio art at the Lorenzo de Medici School in Florence, Italy. She later earned an MA in Arts Administration from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2002, where she learned to balance artistic creativity with the business side of art.
