Katherine Morgan
As a photographer, I strive to evoke my freedom to observe. I select images that embrace me with a touch of beauty, history, emotion, intrigue, serenity or whimsy.
Initially trained as a concert pianist, Katherine Morgan has worked to turn her lifelong passion for photography into a powerful visual statement. Her inspiration begins in the field. From the moment she discovers a beautiful flowering cactus or notices the fine interior details of a Protea flower, the final images are already beginning to take form. Working with a digital camera, Morgan focuses on the tiny details of the natural world.
Each photograph begins with actual light, composition, and color. Morgan captures the images as they exist, then brings them into her digital darkroom to transform them into the unique photographic world she creates. Through this process, Morgan searches to find a deeper understanding of life and to celebrate the beauty of simple moments.
Each photographic image is printed with archival, pigmented inks on matte, archival-quality paper and is created in a signed and numbered edition of 50.
