Metal is Maja�s medium � in her hands, it becomes compliant and plastic, lending itself to investigation and manipulation. Hollow forms, elements of many of her designs, demonstrate metal�s ability to stretch and take on shape while retaining strength and lightness.

Many of Maja�s pieces are fabricated in sterling silver, often punctuated with splashes of color derived from stones, pearls, anodized aluminum, other metals or even glass. Her work openly questions limiting distinctions between precious and nonprecious materials. In her view, mundane materials become precious by artistic intention and the company they keep.
