"Glass is durable, yet fragile. Its subtleties constantly challenge me and allow me to create artwork with optical textures, great depth, and perpetual movement."
After pursuing a successful career as a software engineer, Susan Knecht discovered glass and there was no turning back. Combining whimsical shapes with classic forms, Knecht presents the viewer of her work with a new perspective with each view. Knecht uses chips of glass and molds to create multi-dimensional patterns and textural lines. Her use of color and optic patterning helps to create pieces with constant visual movement, which brings the glass alive. With each piece, Knecht creates a bold statement, recreating the classic into a piece of artwork with a brand new feel.
