Sculptural and contemporary with references to natural forms, Sydney Lynch's jewelry embodies an organic geometry in which shapes are juxtaposed to achieve a sense of balance and proportion. Comfort and wearability are primary concerns. As a highly visual person, Lynch finds inspiration everywhere: in natural forms, landscapes, weathered cityscapes, art museums. The artist intuitively combines and translates all of these experiences into her artful designs.
Lynch fashions her jewelry in brilliant combinations of sterling silver, 18K and 22K gold. The pewter-black of oxidized silver provides a dramatic contrast to the rich color of high-karat gold. Lynch textures her metals by passing them through a rolling mill with etched, patterned steel templates.
