Opaque violet blown glass overlayed hot onto a clear glass crystal bubble. This colored glass is cased in clear crystal, blown and tooled. The bowl is finished with a clear glass pedestal foot and lapis blue lip wrap.

Nicholas Kekic

"I think of glass as a liquid that is frozen to room temperature in a controlled and sometimes precarious balancing act of heat, gravity, timing and human intervention."

Nicholas Kekic is a third generation glassmaker. His grandfather was an industrial glassmaker and his father was a founder of the American studio art glass movement. Within this family environment, Kekic's appreciation for handmade objects and the process of their creation was nurtured.

Kekic's designs capture the fluidity of glass and its unique relationship with light. Like his father and grandfather before him, he is most satisfied by making glass pieces that are beautiful and useful.

"Less is more."
The color and opaqueness are unusual, the shape is beautiful, its utter simplicity make it outstandingly elegant. The Bauhaus Philosophy rings true in this piece. It now sits in the center of my dining room table, a glass-topped table on a white onyx base. It will remain empty, because to put anything in it would only detract from its beauty and simplicity. I could not be more pleased.

Great photo....
The bowl is beautiful, but not the vibrant violet in the photo...not violet at all. It is a pale, almost pink color and translucent.[...]
