"Gold Leaf Stems"

Art Glass Goblet

23k gold and 12k white gold leaf is rolled on to the glass bubble while the piece is being blown. A delicate folding of the leaves makes each one unique.

The surface of the glass is molded to a rippled texture, combining with the gold to create a stunning effect. The goblet is created using a smooth, untextured two-part graphite mold, created by the artist. This results in a seam line in the finished piece, as well as chill marks caused by the smoothness of the mold.

These all purpose stems comfortably hold a 5 oz pour of wine and perfectly fit a 12 oz beer with room for a good head.

While the gold is dishwasher safe, hand washing is recommended. Sold individually.

Dan Mirer's work is rooted in the design process. Striving to create objects that are contemporary and unique, ideas develop in a dialogue between his inner craftsman and designer.

To realize his work, Mirer uses a blend of traditional, innovative, and esoteric glassmaking techniques. Invention is often a necessity as many pieces require custom tools and processes. While Mirer sees beauty in an efficient production, he takes pride in personally making each piece himself from start to finish

The artist attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, Alfred University, and the Pukeberg School of Design, Sweden.

not great
The mold seam line is a big distraction to an otherwise wonderful goblet. I would prefer to pay twice as much for one blown without the mold.
