About this Artist

James Nevitt

"I have had a fascination with glass my whole life. At different periods, I have been lucky enough to work with this wonderful material. My color choices are bold; I love color. My work runs from basic geometric forms to those showing color, depth and movement transcending the surface quality of glass fusing to get to a third dimension."

James A. Nevitt died suddenly on October 9th, 2010 at age 61. Born in Los Angeles, Jim grew up in Milpitas and studied art at San Jose City College. He was an accomplished stained glass artist in the 1970's, creating custom windows for private homes. Nevitt met a number of glass artists in the field and took seminars ranging from flame-worked beads to glass blowing. The artist then worked in various technical industries before returning to his passion for making art eight years ago.

Nevitt's fused glass studio was located first in Aptos, and then in Berkeley and Oakland. He was an active member of artist associations such as ACGA and his work was represented in galleries, online and at tradeshows.

Limited pieces are still offered for sale.
