"Amber/Salmon Line Work"

Art Glass Sculpture

Created by Lynn Latimer
Amber/Salmon Line Work is influenced by Latimer's intrigue with knotted rugs and textiles both in pattern and the weaving of colors. By layering and fusing translucent glass pieces, Latimer builds a subtle unique palette as in a water color painting. The glass also has an iridized surface which is more visible in low and reflected light.

Working with the irids is like building a second piece, the primary based on the color of the glass and the echo paying close attention to the colors of the iridized reflections. This panel is available in both horizontal and vertical presentation.

The custom black powder coat stand is included. Please enter V (vertical) or H (horizontal) in the box below.

About this Artist

Lynn Latimer

"Building and integrating a beautiful palette of color, with an intricate and balanced pattern, in fused glass seems to be my mission these days. "

I am very interested in line quality and detail, how the glass moves, and how to draw with these elements in the design process. If I have done my job right, the glass draws you in and offers a deeply satisfying visceral experience. The panels bring color and light into a room and are enlivening and joyful.

Latimer's fused glass panels are created using multiple layers of colored glass. Layering is used to build both a rich and subtle palette of color, where the pieces cross over and under one another, and an intricate rhythm of line and pattern. The pieces are interwoven and positioned into a complex three-dimensional puzzle, very crisp and architectural in appearance and then fused, cold-worked and displayed on custom stands.

Lynn Latimer graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1975 with a BFA in Painting. The artist began working with glass at RISD as an independent study, exploring stained glass under the guidance of Dale Chihuly. Chris VanAllsberg, introduced Lynn to sandblasting glass, which continues to be an important element. Lynn started Latimer Glass Studio in 1976 and has been working in glass for thirty two years.
