"Ombre Primavera vase"

Art Glass Vase

Created by Tracy Glover
The two-tone coloration of the Ombre Primavera Vases is achieved by layering each color of hot glass separately atop a clear glass bubble. As the colored layers settle, the borders flow into one another and make the organic line separating the hues. Utilizing the traditional Italian method Primavera, the organically bubbled surface of the glass is made by quenching a gather in a brew of liquid ingredients, then encasing it in a layer of clear glass. The hot-cold-hot interaction becomes effervescent, resulting in the frothy appearance.

About this Artist

Tracy Glover

"Glassblowing is a magical process."

It might have been while Tracy Glover was appearing and disappearing from glass boxes that she fell in love with the magic of glass. After a short career as a levitating, psychic numerologist and magician's assistant, Glover decided to focus on the centuries old art of glassblowing.

Inspired be everything from 60s minimalist design to antique apothecary bottles to ornate Venetian glass, Glover's utilitarian lamps, vases, bowls and candlesticks highlight the translucence and plasticity of glass. Combined with silk, cast iron, wood and imported papers, Glover's art evokes sophisticated playfulness and pure reliability — much like the retired magician's assistant herself.
