Just as an inked brush painting reveals the mind at the moment of creation, each of these vases presents a unique expression of the moment. Created by hand, cutting thin silver and carefully arranging the leaves which are then fused into a half formed bubble on a blowpipe. They are completed with a folded ring midsection to suggest the joints in bamboo. Each is a unique work of art, and will vary slightly.

"I am committed to lifelong learning. Currently, I am looking at ceramic shapes, particularly Chinese ceramics, and beginning to learn Chinese and refine my calligraphy."

Explorations of form and color have always marked Richard Jones' glass artistry. The fact that the work is handblown, using traditional glassmaking techniques, is an integral part of each design, allowing for a wide variety of designs and imbuing each piece with subtle but significant features.

Jones' abiding interest in new directions has lately steered him toward Chinese ceramics. Chinese characters and motifs adorn his work. In all his pieces he seeks balance, harmony and a sense of peace. Objects that bear witness to the silence inherent in all things.
