About this Artist

Michael Eudenbach

"I like to capture water in motion to create a lasting image of a unique moment."

Michael Eudenbach's work often captures the exciting feel of motion in a classic and timeless way, through use of dramatic angles within the composition. In his nautical sailing series of images, Michael has taken the perspective view "on board" beautiful sailing yachts while at sea. Motion is captured through time exposures, or the exact moment that the boat rolls with a wave.

Michael works with various forms of photographic capture including film and digital. He approaches a subject through a connection to its motion, gesture, or physical presence within a scene. Often a composition within a landscape such as a texture, pattern or shape will catch his eye. Michael sometimes uses underwater camera housings and submerges below the surface for intimate images of water and the patterns created by water.

Michael is mainly a self-taught photographer, growing up with a darkroom in the basement and access to numerous film cameras at a young age. After winning a photo contest with a picture of his dog at age 9, Michael set his sights on learning to refine his eye, mostly by studying photographs in National Geographic. He briefly studied with Michael Yamashita from National Geographic after meeting at the Maine Photographic Workshops. He later did an apprenticeship with Clint Clemens on numerous advertising shoots.
