One of a Kind
Hand built white earthenware folk princess reaching with outstretched hand for the hand atop a separate monolith, with "Fly" printed on one side, and "Now" on the other. Refers to care of the spirit, represented by the bluebird in her other hand. Surface is matte and slightly textured, and is treated with oxides, underglazes and frothy matte glazes.

Marilee Hall

"I want my clay work to bring a sense of joy and a hint at the mystery of life."

Marilee Hall works in a former ice cream factory to create pieces that tend toward the whimsical. With her studio cat to guide her, Hall uses slabs, coils and extrusions, pinching, paddling, rolling, and squeezing to make forms. She brushes and sponges layers of colors, raking and scribing to create textures, creating pieces with personality and warmth. Her work speaks with compassion and humor of spirit, expressed outwardly through figurative elements in sculpture.
