About this Artist

Regina Farrell

"In my ceramic work, I strive to connect between function of form and sheer enjoyment of the spirit that I experience in creating my pieces. The combination of organic influences with the materials I am using allow me to create and share with others across the margins of verbal dialogue."

Regina Farrell describes her ceramics as "a cross between the bold color palettes of Pop Art with an inherent touch of the feminine." Her "Sweet Eve" ceramics are fun and organic with a strong attention to line and profile. The Irish born artist resides in New York, where the liveliness and endless energy of the city inspire her work.

Farrell's low fire ceramics are hand built from slabs, coils, pinch pots and by utilizing artist made molds for forms. Surface treatments include mono-printing design motifs by hand and adding color by hand painting. The look and finish of hand-made work is a major part of her design concerns. Although there are certain forms and themes running through the range of work, each piece is unique.

Originally trained as a fine art painter and print maker in Ireland, Farrell has worked as a freelance designer, illustrator and teacher for many years. Following studies at the Art Student's League of New York, and later when working in clay during her BA studies at Lehman College, Farrell began to explore ways to combine her previous skills and experience with the clay medium.
