A joyous intricate form, this vase is hand-built of porcelain. Delicate in appearance, it is built to be a stable, well-balanced form. The central cylinder is 8 sided with applied details and a curved lip, and is surrounded by a circle of hand-made porcelain leaves.

The underglaze colors are applied in layers of peachy coral, aqua, pale magenta, leafy green and chartreuse. This vase looks fabulous whether you have flowers in it or not. A votive candle would fit inside if you would like to use it for a soft source of light.

Carol Barclay's work in white clay is recognizable by its undulating organic design. In the course of more than three decades in the studio, Barclay has learned how to gently coax the soft clay into graceful whirls and elegant constructions. Her forms seem to freeze a moment of fluidity, with references to flowing fabric, sea forms and garden blooms. Barclay first designs organic shapes of white clay, then sculpts, carves and combines them to create elegant, visually exciting sculptural forms.
