In many ways Teilhet's current body of work is about surface tension. Its driving force is visual simplicity, which attempts to create a sense of tranquility. The pieces are created and displayed in compositions of two or more objects.

The work is porcelain, made on a wheel one at a time. The pieces are fired to cone 10 in a reduction atmosphere. A family of glazes with deep, continuous properties is used.

Teilhet is a self-taught artist.

Love the shape of Justin Teilhet's vases

This is a beautifully shaped vase! The color is more brown than it appears on Artfulhome and on Justin's web site, but it's still a nice color - kind of a muted brownish red. However, there were some flaws in the glazing that detracted from its appearance. Several were minor but one was fairly large. Whitish areas showed through the glaze. These flaws did not appear intentional; e.g., the rest of the vase did not have areas that weren't glazed. Other than the flaws the glazing was beautiful, so the flaws were particularly noticeable. We returned the vase and unfortunately, we still had to pay for the $30 initial shipping and the return shipping.I would recommend this artist's work with reservations. If you get a vase that is not flawed, you will be pleased with it.
