About this Artist

Marilee Hall

"I want my clay work to bring a sense of joy and a hint at the mystery of life."

Marilee Hall works in a former ice cream factory to create pieces that tend toward the whimsical. With her studio cat to guide her, Hall uses slabs, coils and extrusions, pinching, paddling, rolling, and squeezing to make forms. She brushes and sponges layers of colors, raking and scribing to create textures, creating pieces with personality and warmth. Her work speaks with compassion and humor of spirit, expressed outwardly through figurative elements in sculpture.

If ceramics can be warm and fuzzy
These are delightful and have a "warm & fuzzy" feeling to them.

Looks good
I am using the hearts to decorate the bathroom wall for my 20 year olds.They are soon to arrive home from college for spring break.I know they will enjoy the whimsical feel verses childish.I distributed them in a horizontal line. When I tried to more randomly place the hearts it looked more younger.
