With works that contain hundreds, if not thousands, of fabric pieces, Kent Williams believes in the continuing power of geometric abstraction. His quilts use simple shapes like squares and rectangles, but he combines these shapes in such a way that simplicity is left far behind. Kent also creates abstract landscapes that boil down the feeling of a particular place and time to its artistic essence. These deceptively simple works inhabit the boundary waters between representation and abstraction, the real and the ideal.

Using commercial fabrics, Kent machine-pieces and machine-quilts his works.

Kent is largely self-taught. He has been making quilts for 10 years. He was written about art for 25 years.
