Wen Redmond
"Making art is like a meditation. I put that energy into my creations. Later, viewing a piece, revisit that feeling, like reading a poem or familiar story. It brings you back. "
Wen is a mixed media fiber artist. She creates the entire structure of her one of a kind art pieces. Wen?s latest work features digital photography. This involves using her original images, artistically manipulated and printed on especially prepared fabrics or other substrates. Her work includes painting, dying, stamping screen-printing, mono printing, stitching and other means of surface design.
Wen is finding expression printing directly on fabrics and surfaces. She has created several innovative techniques. Holographic Images are printed silk organza photographs mounted, producing a 3-D image. Her Digital Fiber works are manipulated photographs printed on treated fabrics, creating unusual stitched textural constructions. Her Silk Organza Collages employ an added dimension of light, flowing through the layered transparent silk, making patterns, depending on the angle of the viewer. Each work is unique and created individually.
Wen has worked with fabrics her entire life, graduating from collage with an excellent working knowledge. She creates all of her unique textiles, with additional training from some of the countries most innovative fiber artists. Wen continues to explore her chosen medium, fabric, to see what it can do, to stretch its perception as art medium.
