Allowing for inspiration in the form of a peculiar hunch, Brian Kershisnik welcomes the influence of children, artistic greats and cave paintings in his oil on paper and panel works.

Purposely avoiding following one rigid technique, Kershisnik allows for experimentation and inspiration to guide his open-ended images. He contends that the purpose of his art is to facilitate the understanding of what it means to be human - the awkward discoveries, happy encounters, deep sorrows and immense joys.

I got this professionally framed; it will be hanging in my bedroom, although it is beautiful enough to be displayed where company can see it.

My 2nd Kershisnik!
I love B. Kershisnik's work, and I remember the very first time I ever saw one of his paintings (should have bought it, and regret to this day that I didn't). This is my second Kershisnik purchase, and each painting has rich dense colors. This painting is particularly rich in meaning as well. The idea that women carry their houses, and all the people, experiences, burdens, possessions contained within them, is very powerful. Women generally are very committed to their homes. This is a beautiful piece; Mr. Kershisnik is a very talented artist.

Kershisnik is the painter of life
We have a spot on the wall in our parlor - or "the gallery" as we sometimes call it - that belongs to Kershisnik's work. But he keeps finding his way into other spots as well. Women with houses is moody and beautiful, with a subtle message about the strength of women who sustain homes, sometimes looking to other women for guidance, and sometimes drawing the strength from inside themselves. Though his paintings are not lushly realistic (which I usually prefer), the shapes, the muted colors, the expressions on the faces, the body postures all speak eloquently of the very heart of human experience.
