If you're thinking, "I could never wear that," think again. This perfect little black dress is remarkably flattering, created from three layers of lightly stretching knit mesh, with the innermost layer smoothing the body and the outer layers gently flowing on top.

90% nylon/10% Lycra
Machine wash gentle cold, line dry
Using a lingerie bag will keep this stretchy fabric looking great for years to come!
The finished seams are designed to be visible on the outside. The layers can get a bit flipped around after wearing and washing. Before wearing, always make sure the logo and care tags are on the inside. From there, flip layers until the side seams are on the outside.

The poetry of color is a key part of what makes Cynthia Ashby garments unique. The clothing is garment dyed, which creates a quality of uncommon depth and texture. As the colors fade they achieve character with wear, like a patina on a bronze sculpture. Seasonal color palettes may be combined in past and future collections, creating infinite wardrobe possibilities.

The garments are made from linen, cotton, silk and wool in assorted textures and weights. The raw look of the fabric is animated with fine detailing in design and construction.

Garments should be hand washed or machine washed on a short/gentle cycle in cold water. Use a mild detergent (preferably dye free). Either dry flat or machine dry on low heat. Heat will fade the color faster.

Not what I expected!

I purchased this dress for my mother's memorial service. I wanted something in black, but not a dress that was drab, as my Mom has quite a stylish lady. The folks at Artful Home were wonderfully accommodating, helping me with size, length, etc. The dress arrived in plenty of time before the service, as I said Artful Home's staff is wonderful. However, when I tried on the dress I was so disappointed. The outward stitching and the tags showing through at the seams made the whole dress look cheap, and was anything but cheap. I do not mind spending the money for a really good product. One that I will wear over and over. But this dress was not it. I love the look of all of Cynthia Ashby's clothing, and have wanted to purchase several of her other pieces. But since trying this little black dress, that so many others have raved about, I'm a bit shy to try her other pieces. I readily admit, that I do not care for the outward seam showing designs that are so popular right now, so this really affected my feelings for this dress. I haven't given up on Cynthia's designs by any means...but this dress was just not right for me.

Thanks for your comments. This style does have the exposed finished seams. Cynthia Ashby offers many styles in other fabrics without the visible seams that might work better for you.
