Simpler than a shrug, this garment of bell-shaped sleeves slips on easily for an elegant look.

About this Artist

Amy Brill

"I love to create the perfect shape for your perfect shape (which may vary from day to day)."

Amy Brill realized when she was very young that she gave her all to whatever she did, so she had better do the things she loves. Her fascination with textiles, fabrics, and making things took form first with the creation of soft sculpture dolls, which then led to wool spinning and dyeing, which led to her current love of knitting and design. Amy Brill is known for styles that emphasize ease and wearability, and the invention and reinvention of sweaters with interesting lines and vibrant colors.

Each piece of Brill's work is created in the United States from beginning to end. The artist designs all of her own yarns -- the polyester/acrylic combination yarns are made for her in North Carolina and the cotton/rayon tweeds are hand twisted in her studio using American cotton. Every sweater is knit one at a time by one of six knitters, all of whom reside in Upstate New York.

Brill often jokes that the one thing she did wrong was to make wearables that are just too well-made and simply do not fall apart. Each sweater looks like a piece of art, but the real creation is in the durable and flexible nature of each piece. "The fact that my sweaters fit well, wear well, do not fall apart, look stylish and style-full forever, is miracle enough for me."

Great!
This is perfect because it covers your arms and shoulders without covering your pretty sleeveless blouse or dress. Doesn't wrinkle. Well made & good looking!

Fabulous!
These sleeves are adorable! I just received the sleeves and have already worn them over sleeveless dresses and tops! I would love it if the artist could make them in a silk yarn as well! They would be cooler when worn indoors or in hot weather. I also believe that silk could be worn with more elegant dresses. Thank you for creating them...they are great!!!

Does the trick with style
They're perfect with sleeveless dresses for when the night turns cold (my original reason for buying them). And I'm always covering my arms when the car air conditioner is blasting, these are way better than pulling my arms inside my T-Shirt. It would be nice if they were a couple of inches longer (hence the 4 stars instead of 5).

Beautiful Color
Lovely out of the box but ill fitted. The sleeves seem too short and the shrug isn't full enough to cover my shoulders and I am pretty petite

I have 14 Amy Brill sweaters
I love her looks, they aren't boring, the colors are great. I believe there is beauty in simplicity and when I wear Amy's sweaters, that's the piece of my whole ensemble that gets the looks with people asking were I bought it....

One size fits all doesn't....
This beautifully crafted "shrug" was simply way too small for my entirely average size (5'7", 145 pounds). Sleeves were too narrow and inches too short.

Liked It
The quality is very high quality. The sleeves were an inch or two long but everything I buy always needs to be adjusted as I am only 5 ft 2. I will just fold it up just like I do with all my other knits. I kind of wish that the back had more of a half moon drape to cover more of the back. If you held it straight from one sleeve to the other, it would look like one long tube. The color is gorgeous - Atlantis.

Almost perfect
If the sleeves were longer, this cool "sweater" would be perfect; the craftsmanship is superb and the colors are gorgeous. I love how unusual, stylish, and artistic this piece is, and I get a lot of use out of it on cool evenings when I want to wear a sleeveless dress and not carry a full jacket. But the length is three-quarters on me, and I'm only 5'6"???I would love to see these made with longer "sleeves."
