"My life revolves around my art in three dimensions."

Scott Nelles pronounced {nell-ess} creates cast bronze sculpture by using the trades of industry. Much of the inspiration for his work actually comes from the process in which he makes it. Cast metal Toy cars, boats, and airplanes take him back to his childhood in Detroit where his father, a manufacturers representative would take Scott on factory tours. The dramatic sight and heat of molten metal became a part of his soul and the excitement of the foundry process has never left him.

Many people are aware of the" lost wax method" of creating bronze castings and sculpture. Scott Nelles on the other hand creates his art by using the "sand casting method". This process is seldom used in the arts and very few are aware of it's possibilities. Nelles has tried to take advantage of his process to express his artistic visions and also make his art more available to the public.

Faced with uncontrollable ambition Scott dropped out of art school and traveled across the country until he ended up in Seattle, WA. in 1972. Seattle was home to several small foundries. With the help of these foundries, he was able to gain a knowledge base which finally allowed him to open his own facility back in his home state of Michigan.

WAAHOOO!
i love this piec- i have had my eye on it for a while- giving it to a friend "who has eveything"may get one for me some time-However- big disapointment- the wheel pins- not consistant with the weight of the piece. They look "off"-perhaps a petina on them would make them blend in better. would have preferred a piece of harware there instead.

Beautiful piece
Very nice piece. It took about two weeks to get. My father is going to be pleased. The cowboy on top is not attached to the fish but it stays put. My only complaint is that the wheels could be attached a little tighter.

Trout Cowboy for an Arizona Golfer
Purchased as a gift for someone who was an avid golfer and is avid release fly fisherman. A back problem has caused golfing to be restricted, but not the fishing, and since he lives in Arizona, this clever melding of fish and cowboy makes the perfect gift. Can't wait to send it to him.

Gift for the man that has everything!
My father is very hard to buy for. Finding these unique pieces are a godsend. It's fun and perfect. He isn't a cowboy folk dude, but a fishing and car one.Thanks for having fun pieces I know he will get a kick out of this for his birthday:)

Scott Nelles is a genius bringing his unique brain outward for a moment to share his brilliance, wit and passion.Trout Cowboys is a beginning. It is a fireplace mantle occupant at the moment.The idea is unique. It is a ton of fun to look at and just think about.It is genuine handmade art. It is instilled within you, not defined.This piece motivates me to dig deeper in my own whimsy for creative solutions to every day problems i incur all the time.Art inspires life to be less black and white and much more a blend.How else would "Trout Cowboys" exist? What a brilliant combination!
After watching the Salmon runs in upstate New York, where fishermen stood shoulder to shoulder, and the fish didn't have a chance, I appreciate this little sculptural statement on what wild creatures are good for. Really clever!
