Dan McCabe

"I truly enjoy exploring my metalworking skill set to create balance, lines and texture in each piece. My recent body of work is large-scale metal "jewelry for the home" and a testament to the ultimate inspiration I feel when working with this extraordinary material."

Metal is Dan McCabe's material. It obviously challenges him as an artist and a master craftsman to take this industrial substance and bring it to a level that is beautiful, lacy, precise, polished and modern. He seems to first create and then contrast textures, shapes and lines. Dan enjoys playing with the yin and yang of organic shape versus modern lines and bronze versus stainless steel. Within his work, he points out that these opposites have many similarities which allows for stylistic, innovative pieces that embody movement and light.

Hot, dirty, loud, dusty and smoky i.e. melting, welding, cutting, grinding, and polishing. These are the elements of McCabe's artistic metalwork.

Completely self-taught with more than 27 years working with metal, Dan McCabe has become a master craftsman and talented designer. At the age of 19, Dan was hired as an apprentice in one of the first fine art bronze foundries in Sedona, Arizona. There and in subsequent foundries, Dan began to master the precision fabrication skills and the passion for metalworking. For the last 12 years, Dan has successfully run his own metalworking business creating his own fine art and commissioned pieces.
