Konstanze Valdez
"Trained as an architect, I enjoy working on smaller-scale designs to create jewelry. I apply a similar design process in my architectural profession."
The designs of Nodeform are simple, but also very bold with an architectural look to them. Each piece is as unique and as individual as the wearer. Pieces are flirting, provoking, and suspend accustomed views. Unique jewelry works strike a balance between independent sculpture and interaction with the body. Each piece has its own sense of balance.
Nodeform primarily uses sterling silver in such a way that it represents the metal's true quality, fine reflective surfaces, crisp edges, and structural harmony. Nodeform specializes in sculptural ring designs that are achieved by modeling the pieces in wax by hand and using the lost wax casting method to translate them into metal. All pieces are hand finished, and precious gems are handset.
The artist received an architectural degree (BArch) from the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany. A lot of this formal design training can be translated into other three-dimensional objects like jewelry. To learn a variety of jewelry-making and wax-modeling techniques, she attended classes at Santa Monica Community College and Layola Marymount University.
