"Formally I was a landscape painter, but from that foundation I have always been looking for innovative ways to paint forms and color."

"Innovative in a subliminal sense. I think if you look at my paintings, you won’t see any recognizable images as objects of nature. However, through the color and shapes you might sense the landscape below the surface. The earth is ever present in my memory and in the techniques I use in transforming the images into abstract paintings."
