About this Artist

Eva Seid

"I value old glass and stone smoothed over time by nature. I'm attracted to ancient artifacts and discarded industrial parts. It's actually harder to find beach glass than to buy a diamond."

Most of Eva Seid's designs are a challenge because she's always experimenting with something new — hammering, wire weaving, granulation, fusing, lost-wax carving. Always searching for the best way to create a piece of art and have it function as jewelry.

She's not shy about making mistakes in the process, about scrapping a piece even if she's already invested lots of time. Sometimes, she notes, making mistakes allows you to solve the problem. And she makes a point of staying open to new combinations of materials and techniques, never knowing where they will lead her.
