"Structure possesses an aesthetic all its own, unadulterated and unassuming. Tension, compression, shear, and torsion are within the fabric of all structures. My work explores these forces and investigates their potential for expression."

The level of craft that Richard Prisco's furniture possesses is as important to him as the materials and design. No component is thought insignificant, from the quality of the metals to the level of sanding on an area of work that may only be visible during installation.

Prisco's work often combines traditional joinery techniques with more maverick methods of assembly and emphasizes the re-evaluation of traditional typologies. Many of his pieces incorporate exacting and finely machined metal components, stainless steel cables, and concrete.
