Table Lamp. Base of lamp is Bubinga Hardwood turned on the lathe . The steam bent "Tendril " is Black Cherry. The Shade is made of flat glass which is slumped in the kiln over 2 firings ,and hand worked. The shade is sandblasted to create a soft frosted look . The lamp has a three way touch switch and can take incandescent bulbs up to 200 watts total .

Since 1980, Clark Renfort has been turning fine hardwood lamps on the lathe. Renfort carefully integrates each facet of the lamp, adding linear tendrils of maple, walnut, and cherry to turned hardwood bases, and finishing each lamp with slumped and kiln-formed glass shades of his own design.

The contrast of light and dark hardwoods, the sinous wrapping of tendrils, and the gently undulating glass shades combine to create an elegant and unusual lighting statement. The result is simple, elegant artistry in a functional medium.

As Michael Monroe, artistic advisor to The Guild, says,"Clark Renfort's lamps have fluid lines and beautiful craftsmanship. They are a fresh reinterpretation of Art Nouveau. There is an organic quality to the glass shades, and the color is in harmony with the lyrical, steam-bent wood tendrils of the bases. Renfort has achieved the ability to get two very different media to work together."

Fantastic lamp
I am so glad I got this lamp. It gives off a very warm glow, and I love both the base and the shade. I had trouble at first with the unusual on/off/3-way switch, but with the help of the Artful Home staff, we determined that the problem was that this lamp can not be used with CFL bulbs. After I put in a regular 3 way bulb, the lamp worked like a charm. (There is a button on the base that turns the lamp on, brighter, or off with just a very light touch of your finger.)
