"I handcraft every piece to reflect the God-given natural beauty of the select Appalachian hard woods I use. Timeless original designs, traditional joinery, functionality, meticulous hand-rubbed finish insure heirloom quality."

Desmond Suarez believes that attention to detail in design, craftsmanship, and finish are essential components to making his work. He says that his work is inspired by "the functional beauty of the Shaker, Arts and Crafts movements, Scandinavian along with Japanese designs".

Desmond uses traditional joinery such as: mortise & tenon, pegged joinery, dove-tails, and more to make the strongest pieces possible. He uses select kiln dried Appalachian hard woods. He also spend much time on a detailed hand-rubbed oil finish, that makes his work as tactily pleasant and it is aesthetically beautiful.

Desmond is a second generation furniture designer & maker and grew up in a home resplendent with design and craftsmanship. His mother designed homes and furniture, and he worked with his father in his furniture and cabinet shops. He formal education was earned in North Carolina, England, & Tennessee, where he earned degrees in: Art, History, Religion & Education. He worked for 20 years as a profession commercial furniture designer and has spent the last 8 years working in his own studio.

A Great Present
I have this lovely clock on my kitchen window sill. It is a pleasure to look at every day, pretty lines and good colors. I have rubbed it with a bit of lemon oil, and that looks good...a bit more shine and luster. Nice workmanship and it is easy to change the time in the clock. I would buy another for a present for a friend.
