David Kiernan
"I love Art Deco designs, both furnishings and architecture. A couple of years ago, I visited the South Beach area of Miami and felt as though I had found my home."
David Kiernan's background as an engineer is apparent in his woodwork. Geometric and angular, each piece is the product of a carefully graphed process, a manifestation of a well-planned blueprint.
Working primarily with wood--maple, sycamore and mahogany--Kiernan uses metal as an accent material. Discovering new materials and methods provides Kiernan with a constant inspiration. But his drive is in that final thrill: after weeks and months of construction and design, to see the pieces assembled into a perfect whole. To step back and see an intangible idea transformed into a tactile object.
