About this Artist

Brandon Phillips

"Our collection features designs that range from elegant to minimal, rough to textured --each inspired by the natural beauty of the wood and created with lifestyle demands in mind."

Now in its twelfth year, and managed by founding member Brandon Phillips and his wife Amy, SMC Furnishings produces high-quality, handcrafted furniture utilizing eco-friendly methods. Originally started by three graduates of the Art Institute of Chicago, the company's original mission of creating accessible, artistic, and welcoming home environments has broadened to include a an important ecological component.

With nearly 90 percent of their wood coming from waste, recycled, and local sources, SMC Furnishings creates innovative furniture without relying on scarce wood resources. Many of their pieces feature reclaimed building timbers that are kept as close as possible to their original sizes. SMC also obtains materials from local tree services, private homeowners, and farmers who have removed trees because of storms, disease or nuisance issues. Recently, SMC utilized nearly 150 fallen and dead trees from their 30 acre wood lot in the Finger Lakes region of up-state New York, a process that requires no commercial logging

Love my new piece of furniture/art!
My husband was reluctant when he saw it online, but was very pleased with the item when it arrived. We are both enjoying how it blends with our other furniture.
