"Bodily decoration can convey so many things, including strength, beauty, boldness, restraint, and edginess. Jewelry is art worn on the body, art that is taken out and experienced on a daily basis. Each piece of jewelry can be transformed by the wearer, or the wearer can be transformed by the piece. These are the concepts that motivate my work."
Kathleen Lamberti has always been interested in found natural objects, which she uses as a point of departure for her mixed fiber and metal jewelry pieces. For Lamberti, the combination of fiber and metal creates a tension between soft and hard surfaces. By working in the two disciplines, Kathleen Lamberti is able to rediscover each discipline and the capabilities of each material.
