"In my jewelry I honor the individuality of each stone. I celebrate the colors, textures and imperfections that make each stone unique and one of a kind."
Celebrating the combination of beauty and imperfection found in gemstones, lapidarist and designer Pamela Huizenga focuses her jewelry designs on the colors, textures and shapes found in these gifts from Mother Earth. As a lifelong "rock hound", Alexander is passionate about her work and enthusiastically welcomes newcomers to the world of gems and minerals.
As a lapidarist, Pamela Huizenga gets to work directly with the stones she uses in her work. When cutting, she focuses on the shape and color of each stone, allowing it to guide her hands and tell her how it wants to evolve. A great deal of time and energy goes into designing each piece so that the colors and shapes work perfectly together. Huizenga uses 22k and 18k Gold and Sterling Silver in her work.
The artist was trained as a certified lapidary at the age of 16. Her teacher was the well know Jerry Call of North Carolina. At the age of 19, she started her first jewelry company and has been involved with all facets of the industry as buyer, seller, retailer, designer and consultant. Now, in her early 40's, she has finally found her way back to her passion, stone cutting and designing her own line.
