Adam Bentz

"As a furniture maker, I love the challenge of original design and absolute precision."

Adam Bentz's work is inspired by shapes, textures, and colors in the natural world, as well as many forms of modern architecture. In designing original, contemporary pieces, he is fascinated by the intersection of contrasts and loves experimenting with positive and negative spaces, combining wood and metals in unique and innovative ways.

Each piece begins with hand-drawn sketches, which are brought to life in a final drawing and, for certain pieces, a full-scale mock-up to ensure consistency. Being a woodworker at heart, Adam uses both traditional hand tools as well as modern techniques to achieve his designs. The end result is beautiful handcrafted furniture, designed and built to be enjoyed for generations to come.

Immediately after high school, Bentz attended the Cabinetmaking and Fine Woodworking program at Seattle Central College's Wood Technology Center. After graduating in 2005, he spent ten years working for his former mentor, Stewart Wurtz, one of the Northwest's true masters of furniture making and design. He now owns his own furniture-making business based in Seattle, Washington.
