Amanda Hagerman

Amanda Hagerman Jewelry

"I intend for each piece to display the maker's marks and seamlessly relate visually to the rocks, ridges, and ravines that inspire me, all while maintaining a chic and refined allure. "

Having grown up surrounded by the mountainous landscapes of rural Pennsylvania, Amanda Hagerman is drawn to the rugged quality and deep-rooted history that rocks, ridges, and ravines embody. She is moved by places in the landscape where sharp, rigid points meet the ebb and flow of nature's organic forms. It's these vast irregularities, formed by rock and earth, that deeply influence the aesthetic of her work.

Each piece is individually handcrafted by Hagerman in her studio using lost wax casting and hand fabrication. She develops designs by playing with the scale and composition of shapes sketched on paper. She works primarily in Argentium silver and 14k gold vermeil.

Amanda Hagerman started her career as a national-board-certified high school art teacher and is now a full-time artist and metalsmith. She earned dual bachelor's degrees in art education and fine arts (concentrating in fine metals) from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2008. Additionally, she has studied at Peters Valley School of Craft in Layton, New Jersey, and continues to teach herself new techniques.
