Ben Neubauer's jewelry is a visual reflection of the energy he experiences at times when he feels most alive and open, such as when listening to or playing music, or during his daily meditation and yoga practices. The peace and meaning he finds at these times are expressed through a linear vocabulary consisting of overlapping and concentric circles, spheres, and radiating and connecting lines. These elements direct the viewer to the center of the piece, and suggest an experience of focused, clear consciousness. His bold, three-dimensional work often employs compositional rules derived from classical architecture and music theory to create a feeling of balance, harmony, and tranquility.
Neubauer's work is fabricated from 18-gauge wire in oxidized sterling silver and 18K gold. He has developed an elaborate system of measuring and soldering jigs to produce precise results. Every intersection of two wires is connected with a tiny solder seam to produce extremely strong, light jewelry designs.
