Bruce R. Bleach

Bruce R. Bleach Studio

"The magic of pulling a print off the etching press gets me every time. It's never quite what you expect... mysterious, fascinating, always a surprise, or a beautiful accident. The act of etching marks into flat shards of metal feels very ancient and primitive. Connected. Although I'm forever exploring new mediums and raw materials, I will always return to printmaking."

Bruce Bleach's unique works on paper and dramatic relief paintings allow us to travel into an abstract world of form, color, and space. As we traverse this visual world, the artist surrounds us with a strong geometric framework, permitting us to experience the subtle color shifts, robust textural forms, and playful architectural elements that blend into his rich and exciting visual statements.

Bleach's work has evolved dramatically since he began his career in 1975 as a printmaker. The artist has fabricated large-scale wall and freestanding sculpture commissions in bronze with patina, etched aluminum, and mixed media on wood and canvas. Most recently, his use of digital collage elements, especially in his clever and contemporary cityscapes, has taken him on a new and exciting journey.
