Elizabeth Embler

"My paintings are a rich mix of realism and abstraction."

After exploring many styles and media, Elizabeth Embler found her passion for combining the formal discipline of realist painting with the loose and expressive abstract style. The result is bold and energetic, yet evokes a sense of serenity and calm.

Her paintings begin with small realistic pieces, mono-prints, handmade paper, copper, photographs or found objects. She then works with oil paint, overlapping images, color and texture in a brisk, layered and painterly way.

Embler began her art studies at Cape Cod Community College. She went on to study with Sam Fienstein in Dennis, MA, Professor Joel Baab at the Museum School in Boston and with artist Jim Peters at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum.
