Faith Wilson Art
Faith Wilson has been a weaver, visionary artist, and conceptual artist. She loves making useful, beautiful things. But she also makes things meant to transform the viewer—the participator—as well as the space in which the work resides. By making art to walk on, she likes to think of her work as not just decorative, but also subversive.
Faith Wilson's elaborate, handsomely painted floorcloths are humble and meant to be underfoot. She paints on heavy canvas with latex and acrylic media using both traditional and innovative techniques, including stenciling, glazing, and photo transferring. The pieces are sealed with several coats of urethane, making them practical and durable.
Faith Wilson is a self-taught artist.
