James Friedberg uses texture and pattern to create dynamic glass vessels and sculptures. Through the medium of glass, Friedberg strives to bring a harmony of color and form into the world. Using traditional Venetian techniques, he approaches glass from an unconventional perspective to achieve new styles.
James Friedberg incorporates glass blowing, cold working, torch working, fusing, mold making, and hot sculpting into the creation of his work. While the majority of his work is made freehand, Friedberg will also fabricate and utilize molds as needed.
James Friedberg received his BFA in studio glass from California College of the Arts in 2010. While there, he studied with Jane Bruce, Clifford Rainey, and Pamina Traylor. He teaches classes on glass working, and is continually learning from many different friends and artists in his community. He lives and works in San Francisco.
