For San Francisco metalsmith Kendra Renee, the best designs are centered on simplicity. She handcrafts each piece of her jewelry to be an effortless balance of form and texture. Believing that a simple shape is the start of any beautiful thing, she strives to maintain a minimalist aesthetic that harmonizes with the body of the wearer.
Kendra Renee crafts each piece by hand in her studio using traditional fabrication and metalsmithing techniques. She has countless hammers, pliers, mandrels, files, and saws--but her favorite tool by far is her anvil. Each tool creates a unique shape or texture, and Renee finds joy in combining these basic elements into something exciting, fresh, and fun to wear.
Renee fell in love with metalsmithing in 2007 when she apprenticed with a Boston jewelry artist. Since her apprenticeship, she has forged out on her own to create her own business. Picking up new techniques along the way from teachers as far away as Florence, Italy, she is constantly seeking new ways to express her ideas in metal.
