For Karen Klinefelter, studio time is intentionally playful. Attracted to pattern and texture, Klinefelter draws inspiration from both the natural and man-made worlds. Japanese art, architecture, Buddhist texts, and the visuals gathered while traveling the world all come into play as Klinefelter assembles materials and thoughts in her studio. First assembling complex collages in sterling silver, Klinefelter breaks the designs into their simplest, strongest components to arrive at the finished pieces.
