With an appreciation for modern design and a dedication to craftsmanship, Laura Jaklitsch draws on inspiration from the architecture of both the manmade and natural world. She takes a sculptural approach to jewelry, deconstructing the details she observes into sleek, wearable forms. She experiments with material, color, and form to make jewelry that is fresh, contemporary, and bold.
Using traditional metalsmithing skills, Jaklitsch hand fabricates each piece from raw materials such as sterling silver and 18k gold square wire. Her wood and plastic pieces are more experimental in nature, employing signature techniques she developed while working in her studio.
Laura Jaklitsch holds a BFA in jewelry and metalsmithing from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. In addition, she has refined her skills by working as a studio assistant for several jewelers and refinishing high-end Swiss watches.
