Linda Leviton

"Creating art that evokes the color, forms, and textures of nature is central to my art. "

Linda Leviton loves to make beautiful, three-dimensional wall sculptures with metal, wood, and wire. Her work pairs her love of metals with inspiration from nature. She combines basic forms into larger, more involved shapes that are sometimes representational, sometimes abstract, but always with a connection to nature as a theme.

Leviton works primarily in non-ferrous metals: copper, brass, and nickel. Since these materials are so wonderfully malleable, she shapes them using techniques from many disciplines, including blacksmithing, sheet metal construction, welding, silversmithing, and printmaking. She uses etching, dyes, patinas, and paint to treat the surface with subtle or vibrantly colored designs.

Leviton graduated summa cum laude from the University of Cincinnati School of Design, Architecture, and Art. She worked as a graphic designer for many years before becoming a full-time studio artist—a background that has informed her sculpture. Her award-winning artwork appears in many public spaces across the country.
